The Nikolaifleet canal on the edge of the Speicherstadt warehouse district used to be the main river mouth from which the waters of the Alster flowed into the River Elbe. Goods were carried from the water into the warehouses, which have been preserved to this day. Some Instagramers call the view of the Nikolaifleet "Little Amsterdam". A particularly good view of the warehouses is to be had from the Hohe Brücke, as both bridge and street are named, or from the Cremon, a street which marks the former site of a marsh island of that name. When the water is still, you can capture the reflection of the houses in the canal.
