Dine and dance on Hamburg's supply tenders

Floating restaurants and clubs

Futtern und Feiern auf Hamburgs Barkassen

Hamburg is no place for landlubbers: many legendary parties are held on swaying decks, quantities of food vanish down hungry throats in floating restaurants overlooking the Alster and Elbe. We’re taking you to seven great places where you can dine and dance on the water.

You want to feel the fresh Elbe breeze on your face, taking in the view of the Elbphilharmonie and the Landungsbrücken landing stages with a drink in one hand and a fish sandwich in the other? Or rock your soul after work? Or maybe you prefer to hear the clatter of your dance boots on the deck, as you cast off with friends to boogie till the early morning mist rises? You can only do that on the ships that line the Elbe and dot the Alster in Hamburg.

MS Stubnitz Innen
Partying on deck or in the hold of MS Stubnitz.

Hamburg's culture and entertainment fleet is growing steadily – three water craft with cultural aims have been launched since last year, including the Bagalute and the Schaluppe. In addition to party boat classics like Frau Hedi or the MS Stubnitz, there are scores of ship's galleys serving traditional Hamburg cuisine. We've selected eight boats and places where the dining and dancing really give you the Hamburg feeling and put them on a map for you:
